Seventeen-year-old Patrick from Webster Groves was diagnosed in May of 2012 with craniopharyngioma, a type of brain tumor on the pituitary gland. He was seen by an endocrinologist because he had no signs of puberty and tests revealed the tumor. “We were devastated at first, it seemed totally unbelievable,” said Patrick’s mother. Patrick had brain surgery to have the tumor removed in July of 2012. “He was a trooper, no complaints, he just wanted to get it done and get on with the business of growing up,” his mother explained.
When asked what his one true wish would be he knew right away… “Man Cave” and asked that his basement be transformed into a space just for him. “I can’t wait for my Man Cave, to spend time with my friends and play Xbox on my big screen TV. Make-A-Wish is going to totally redo my basement just for me, it’s pretty awesome!” exclaimed Patrick.
Wishes have the power to bring communities together and Patrick’s wish is no exception. Pizazz Interior Design, Creative Construction Design and Weekends Only all have been working tirelessly behind the scenes, generously donating time and treasures to make Patrick’s wish come true. “It’s an honor for Weekends Only to be part of making Patrick’s wish for a “Man Cave” come true, and we wish him many happy memories with his friends. There is such a strong underlying bond of community in St. Louis and it’s a blessing to see people come together to help others.” said Tom Phillips, President and CEO of Weekends Only, whose corporate headquarters is located in Webster Groves.
