Runner and his dad share a special bond over running. When Runner was young, running with him was just about sharing something he loved and enjoyed with his son. When Runner’s health took a turn and he became immobile, running took on a whole new meaning. Because Runner couldn’t walk or move around on his own, running with dad allowed him to see things he couldn’t normally see. It gave him a new perspective. Running was also therapeutic to Runner due to the sensory aspect of movement and wind.
After finding out he was eligible for a wish, Runner decided his one true wish would be to run in the Disney World marathon with dad. Unfortunately, due to Runner’s declining health, they could not make the trip to Disney World this weekend.
Thanks to the collaboration between Make-A-Wish Missouri, St. Louis Track Club and Fleet Feet, this Saturday’s Frostbite Series run will be in honor of Runner. Runner and Dad are such running enthusiasts, they even enjoy watching running on TV. Runner’s health won’t permit him to run with Dad this weekend, so Dad will be given a video camera to record every step of the race that he can then share with Runner.
We encourage race participants to wish Runner well on social media by using #Runners4Runner, #RunnersWish.
