Schnuckcs Raises Nearly $35,000 to Help Grant Local Wishes

November 28, 2016

St. Louis, MO – November 28, 2016 – Make-A-Wish Missouri is proud to announce that Schnuck Markets, Inc. has raised almost $35,000 to help grant wishes for local children battling life-threatening medical conditions.   Through Make-A-Wish Missouri’s Community Wish Partners program, Schnucks has been helping grant wishes for more than 5 years and has raised over $100,000 in that time, making local wishes come true.

Derick Rosinsky, the program lead at Schnucks stated,  “These wishes would simply not be made possible if it were not for the generosity of our vendor partners: Culinaria Hummus, Cabot, Anheuser-Busch, Heineken, Nestle, Frito-Lay, Stacy’s, Pretzel Crisps, Bel Brands, Sartori, Saputo, Tribe, Heartland Dairy, Eat Well Live Well, Crunchmaster, Beemster, Athenos, 34 Degrees, Thomas Coffee, Dairyfood USA, Gehls, teammates, and of course, our wonderful customers that support this program every year.”

A check presentation will be held on Thursday, December 1st at the Arsenal location. 5055 Arsenal St, St. Louis, MO 63139

These funds raised through the Make-A-Wish Missouri’s Community Wish Partners program will help grant local wishes to children battling life-threatening medical conditions. The program provides local businesses an opportunity to help grant wishes just like Makala’s.  Makala, age 9, is battling a life-threatening heart condition and was granted her wish to go to Disney World to meet all of her favorite Disney characters.   Her wish was sponsored by Schnucks.

Wishes give kids hope, strength and joy when they need it the most.  The power of a wish is truly transformative and we are thrilled that Makala is able to share her experience with family, friends and the St. Louis community.  A granted wish touches the hearts of all who work on the wish—from volunteers and business owners to nurses and doctors.

“A wish experience makes such a profound impact on wish kids and their families.  It’s a chance for a child like Makala to take control over an aspect of her life,” said LuAnn Bott, President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Missouri.  “We are very thankful for our partnership with Schnucks and the amazing work that they do for our wish children.”

  • Six-year-old Alana was born with a chromosomal abnormality that is so rare, her doctors had never seen a case like hers before. She does not have use of her legs, is non-verbal, and feeds through a tube. Despite the rarity of her condition and not knowing what her prognosis would be, Alana’s mom always chose to see the positive, and when it came time to think of a wish, her family knew a SleepSafe bed would be the perfect addition to Alana’s room. “Every time we put her in her new bed, she’s smiling and rests comfortably. She feels happy she has this space and can stretch her arms and legs” 🛏️ (Make-A-Wish Greater Los Angeles) More: 📷: BLKBX Creative photo credit
