Hutsen wanted a play set big enough for him and all of his siblings

  • Keeping Hutsen's play set a surprise!

“ Hutsen is a very vivacious, energetic, and loving blue eyed little boy. ”

Wish kid, Hutsen, was diagnosed with Wilm's Tumor in 2010. Immediately after his diagnoses, Hutsen had his left kidney removed, a single lumen line placed in his chest and started radiation and chemotherapy. “At the moment the word cancer came out of the mouth of the doctor my whole world shut down as I grabbed my sleeping 22 month old son and burst into tears, I never imagined my baby would have to face such a horrible monster,” said Victoria, Hutsen’s mother.

After many hospital visits and months of treatments, Hutsen is now NED (no evidence of disease). He still returns to St. Jude’s every six months for repeat scans and blood work. “It’s truly a miracle to know this little hero has fought off this beast and is the greatest blessing. I thank God everyday for letting us have this gift. He is so full life and makes you really change your whole outlook on life,” said Hutsen’s mother.

Hutsen is a very vivacious, energetic, and loving blue eyed little boy. His wish granters fell in love with him immediately as he showed them his room decked out in cars, trucks and tools décor. He absolutely loves big trucks and hangs out with his daddy often at his work, where there are a lot of trucks. Hutsen also enjoys jumping on the trampoline, painting, drawing, watching SpongeBob, Spiderman, Superman and any old movies about trucks.

Hutsen wished for a playset big enough for him and all three of his siblings. Apex Construction stepped in and helped us make his wish a reality. Workers volunteered their time and drove from St. Louis to East Prairie several times to build the massive structure. Workers unveiled the new play set in front of family and friends in May 2015, one week before Hutsen's birthday. Once the massive tarp was removed, all of the children in attendance instantly ran and started playing on the new set.

  • Thanks to his community and partners like Party City, 8-year-old Kyer says he can change the world now that he has received his life-changing wish of learning how to design airplanes. That is the power of a community coming together to transform lives, one wish at a time. Our friends at Party City are generously collecting in-store donations through 3/31 for Make-A-Wish, where every donation received will help give more kids, like Kyer, the strength they need to fight their illnesses.
