On Friday, September 20, Eric Stonestreet will attend the 2019 Bubble Ball for Wishes Sake as this year’s special guest. This signature event will be held at The Abbott in the Crossroads Arts District of Downtown Kansas City. Mr. Stonestreet will introduce the evening to bring awareness to the extraordinary power of hope and healing that a wish come true can deliver for children battling critical illnesses.
Stonestreet, born and raised in Kansas City, was introduced to acting after a friend dared him to audition for the play “Prelude to a Kiss” while he was studying at Kansas State University. After graduating with a degree in Sociology, he moved to Chicago to study and perform theatre and improv. Stonestreet spent two years appearing in television commercials and studying with Improv Olympic Chicago and The Second City, before moving west.
Stonestreet stars as Cameron Tucker on “Modern Family,” a role in which he earned two Emmy Awards in the “Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series” category. The 11th and final season of the beloved hit comedy series will begin this September. This year, Stonestreet also starred in Universal’s “The Secret Life of Pets 2,” the highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 box office hit. He returned to voice the character of ‘Duke,’ staring alongside Kevin Hart and Harrison Ford. The film released June 7, 2019.
“We are overjoyed and honored that Eric Stonestreet has accepted our invitation to attend this year’s event as our special guest,” said Caroline Schmidt, Interim CEO of Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas. “We are grateful for his support as it will bring awareness to the life-changing mission of Make-A-Wish.”
The annual event will begin with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails before featuring a runway show and art gallery exhibit, designed by local artists and companies using bubble wrap. Pieces are inspired by local Kansas City wish kids’ favorite movies. This one-of-a-kind event will also feature Kansas City wish kids, live music, interactive voting on bubble wrap art, silent and live auction, food stations, and much more – all to raise vital funds for wishes granted by the Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas chapter. This event is co-chaired by Jeff Songer from Kansas City Southern and Jeff Eden from DEG Digital.
The local Make-A-Wish chapter is on pace to grant over 430 unique wishes to local children this year. However, it is estimated that each year nearly 600 children qualify for a wish from Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas. The chapter hopes to take a step closer to their vision of granting the wish of every eligible child with this year’s event.
“The Bubble Ball for Wishes Sake event has raised more than $600,000 since its inception in 2017, helping to grant 60 wishes for local kids battling critical illnesses. The support the Kansas City community has given to our local chapter through the years has been outstanding. We are thrilled to again host this exclusive event for the children we serve,” said Schmidt.
