Headquartered in Clayton, Mo., Centene is a FORTUNE® 100, diversified, multi-national healthcare enterprise serving more than 15 million under-insured and uninsured individuals in 32 states.
Last year, the 2019 Walk For Wishes raised over $950,000, helping grant approximately 95 wishes for local children battling critical illnesses.
“We are thrilled to announce that Michael has accepted our invitation to chair the 2020 St. Louis Walk For Wishes. This event has become the leading Make-A-Wish Walk in the country and has helped us share the power of a wish with countless individuals throughout our region. Michael and Centene have been instrumental in the event’s growth over the years and we know this year will be even bigger and better. I am excited for Michael to take us one step closer to achieving our vision of granting the wish of every eligible child,” said Caroline Schmidt, CEO of Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas.
This year, under Mr. Neidorff’s leadership, Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas hopes to raise $1 million, helping fund an additional 100 wishes to local children facing overwhelming odds.
“Make-A-Wish does remarkable work for kids battling critical illnesses,” said Mr. Neidorff. “Centene is proud to support Make-A-Wish and I’m honored to chair the 2020 Walk for Wishes campaign and help advance their mission, which strengthens our communities and brings positive change to St. Louis.”
The St. Louis Walk for Wishes event has been the leading walk fundraiser for Make-A-Wish since 2014. The Walk For Wishes is a community-wide fundraising effort and celebration to grant the wishes of local children facing critical illnesses. Families, friends, corporations and supporters are invited to walk and run together to raise the essential funds needed to grant local wishes for children in the community.
It is estimated that each year there are approximately 600 newly diagnosed children in the Make-A-Wish Missouri & Kansas territory who qualify for a wish. Last year, the local chapter granted 433 wishes to wish children when they were needed most.
The St. Louis Walk For Wishes has raised nearly $5 million since its inception in 2006.
