My Reasons Why - Caroline Schmidt

Meet the faces behind the mission. We sat down with the individuals behind the scenes to find out why they chose to dedicate their time and talent to granting the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Today's spotlight focuses on Chief Operating Officer, Caroline Schmidt.
Q: Why did you decide to join the mission of Make-A-Wish?

A: After I had my first (and only) child, a close friend approached me about Make-A-Wish. As a result of that communication and the great work the organization was doing, I explored the opportunity further. I realized that when my child grew up and asked me one day, “Mom, what do you do for work?" I wanted to be able to tell her I was a part of something as meaningful as the mission of Make-A-Wish.

Q: What is the most rewarding experience you’ve had with Make-A-Wish?

A: The most rewarding experience has not been one thing, but is continuously seeing the impact that a wish has. From the wish child, their family, the community, the volunteers, employees and the donors, a wish's impact truly extends beyond just the wish kid.

Q: What has been your favorite part in working with Make-A-Wish?

A: My favorite thing about being part of this wonderful organization is being able to play a small part in a global organization that is comprised of volunteers, wish families, communities and donors that changes the lives of all involved. I know that what I'm contributing is meaningful and I fully believe we all have different strengths to serve our mission.
