Q: Why did you decide to join the mission of Make-A-Wish?
A: I wanted to work at Make-A-Wish for many reasons but knowing that the funds raised from events will help grant children’s wishes, that is definitely meaningful work! I first learned of Make-A-Wish when I was a Development Coordinator with a previous organization. I always say you need to love what you do, and I wanted to feel like what I'm doing matters; that I'm able to make a positive difference for our wish kids.
Q: What is the most rewarding experience you've had with Make-A-Wish?
A: The most rewarding experience I’ve had so far is meeting wish kids and their families and listening to their wish stories. I couldn't wait to go through training to become a volunteer wish granter for these amazing and courageous wish kids. I've always been told that I have a heart for volunteering and helping children. My first wish kid just had her fun wish reveal at the Magic House "beach area". What I realized that day was how much that little girl's wish touched each member of her family. It was an incredible experience, and I'm blessed to be a part of it.
Q: What has been your favorite part in working with Make-A-Wish?
A: I believe that everyone plays an important part on the Make-A-Wish team to grant wishes. I remember being at my first Walk for Wishes and standing at the start line and watching hundreds of supporters walk by cheering and rallying around their teams and wish kids they had adopted. It was so inspiring, and you knew everyone there was celebrating the power of a wish!
