Q: Why did you decide to join the mission of Make-A-Wish?
A: I decided to work for Make-A-Wish because I believed in the mission of the organization and that the funds that I could help raise would make a profound difference in the lives our wish kiddos and families. I knew the impact that receiving a wish made on a kiddo, all while they’re going through one of the biggest struggles that they’d face in life, and I wanted to be a small part in helping to bring that joy to well-deserving kiddos & families.
Q: What is the most rewarding experience you’ve had with Make-A-Wish?
A: There have been so many rewarding experiences that I’ve had while working at Make-A-Wish. In addition to seeing a kiddo’s face light up when they learn their wish is being granted, I’m continually in awe of hearing the impact of the wishes through wish parents’ perspectives. Hearing that the wish WAS a turning point in their child’s treatment or that they haven’t seen their kiddo “smile this big in years” reiterates how incredible the impact of these wishes is and that a wish is not nice but a necessity. These first-hand accounts from our wish parents motivate me to work harder so that we can raise even more funds and grant even MORE wishes to well-deserving kiddos.
Q: What has been your favorite part in working with Make-A-Wish?
A: In my role, I work with donors and community leaders daily. I love when these champions for our organization get the opportunity to meet and engage with wish kids so that they can see the impact that their giving, whether it be of time or funds, is making. The impact and realization of their generosity and why they’re involved with Make-A-Wish is immediate when they engage with a wish kid and makes them even more motivated to continue to be involved.
