Connor, age 5, was extremely excited to go on his Disney Cruise. Connor wished to take his mom, dad, brother and baby sister with him.
He is battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), which is a fast growing cancer of the white blood cells. Lymphocytes are a type of white blood cell that the body uses to fight infections. In ALL, the bone marrow makes lots of unformed cells called blasts that normally develop into lymphocytes. However, his blasts are abnormal. They do not develop and cannot fight infections. These leukemia cells grow quickly and crowd out the normal red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets the body needs.
Connor is a joyful child, and when asked about his trip his face lights up! He is your typical 5 year-old. He loves all the Disney characters especially Mickey and Shrek. Like most 5 year old boys, he also likes the Marvel comic hero’s especially Spiderman and the Hulk.
When Connor is at home he loves playing on the computer and listening to his favorite music group the Black Eyed Peas. His favorite colors are green and purple and he would watch the Disney channel all day if his mom allowed. He loves playing with his two cats Ella and Jackson daily.
This trip is extremely important to the Larson’s as they were originally scheduled for this same trip early last year. Unfortunately, the trip had to be placed on medical hold due to a relapse. “I’ve never felt so helpless as I did when I had to tell Con that we could not go on the big boat he had so eagerly been waiting for and that he needed to go back to the hospital” said Stephanie (Connor’s mother).
